After many months of work, the scaffolding is coming down around the Chinatown Royal Arch. Workers will dismantle it around 1am on Friday morning, and the City will close Somerset Street underneath the arch from 1am to 4am. At last we will see the whole arch nearly complete.
Below is a photo taken from the scaffolding looking west along Somerset. In the distance a fire engine responds to a call, siren blaring. It is incredibly loud when heard from above.
And here, looking straight down, it passes underneath the Arch.
